Blue Moon Big Band Marks 10th Anniversary with Release of Sixth Recording

Baltimore, MD – November 21, 2008 – Maryland-based Blue Moon Big Band (www.bluemoonbigband.com), an authentic 1940s style swing orchestra that specializes in the timeless music of the American big band era, today announced the release of Blue Moon Big Band Caught in the Act: 10th Anniversary Celebration Live at Naylor Wine Cellars. The double CD set, which includes 34 songs packed into more than two hours of entertainment, is the band’s sixth overall release and its second in 15 months.
On the heels of the nationally acclaimed release of The Polar Bear’s Pajamas, the band’s 2007 studio project, Caught in the Act offers time-tested favorites in Blue Moon Big Band’s repertoire as well as several new additions to the band’s library from the songbooks of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Benny Goodman, Cab Calloway, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and Michael Bublé. In addition to the band’s full complement of full-time musicians, several guest artists joined the group on stage at Naylor Wine Cellars for the live recording on July 19, including vocalists Ken Ebo and Dan Aitken, drummer Mark St. Pierre, and Blue Moon Big Band alumni Steve Conaway (drums) and Craig Fager (trombone). “Recording the live project at Naylor Wine Cellars seemed like to perfect way to mark the band’s 10th anniversary,” noted bandleader Rob Leonard. “The July 19 dance was our fourteenth performance at Naylor since 2002. Somehow we have been blessed with great weather on every occasion at the winery, and we enjoyed a huge audience for this particular performance.”
The double CD is selling at an introductory price of $20 through the remainder of 2008. On January 1, 2009, the cost of the recording is expected to increase to $25. “We wanted to give a great value to our fans,” said Leonard, “so we priced the CD low for 2008.
