Baltimore, MD – May 14, 2015 – Maryland-based Blue Moon Big Band (www.bluemoonbigband.com), an authentic 1940s style swing orchestra that specializes in the timeless music of the American big band era, today announced that it has partnered with Naylor Wine Cellars (www.naylorwine.com) to present the “Marty Knepp Peace & Groove Memorial Dance” on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 1:00-4:30 PM. The open-to-the-public event, which will be held at Naylor Wine Cellars, 4069 Vineyard Road in Stewartstown, PA, will honor long-time Blue Moon Big Band drummer Marty Knepp, who passed suddenly and unexpectedly on April 30 of this year. Tickets will be available at the gate: $15 general admission; $7.50 ages 5-15; free under the age of 5. All ticket sales and money raised via CD sales will be donated directly to Marty’s wife Sandy Knepp and their three children to assist with upcoming financial challenges. Marty, known for his unfaltering positive outlook and his trademark “Peace and Groove to You All” signature line, is remembered as an exceptionally artistic musician, fine instructor, and dear friend.

Guests are invited to bring a picnic lunch to the casual event; however, no outside alcoholic beverages will be permitted. Wine will be available for sale at the event. A beginner dance lesson will be provided by the York Social Dance Studio (www.ysdstudio.com) from 1:00-1:45 PM, and will be followed by three dance sets of big band, swing, foxtrots, ballads, Lindy Hop, and Latin favorites from Blue Moon Big Band. Those unable to attend the event but wishing to make a donation are asked to visit the band’s Facebook page for more information or go directly to the GoFundMe (gofundme.com/uar3n2t) site.

Any musicians who have sat-in with Blue Moon Big Band at any time during the Marty Knepp era with Blue Moon Big Band (2000-2015) are invited to bring instruments and join the band for a song or two. This celebration will be all about how Marty’s incredible artistry touched the lives of so many fellow musicians, dances, and students throughout the years. Intended guest musicians are asked to contact bandleader Rob Leonard directly to arrange to join the band during the event. Guest musicians will be asked to pay the posted gate admission to enter the event.
